  • Catalogue Essay

Instantly recognizable by its bold use of colorway and geometry, never mundane approach, Alain Silberstein is the enfant terrible who knows how to have fun with his creation since his debut in 1990s. Interior designer turned watch designer, his timepieces can be considered too quirky or avant-garde by some, but certainly eclectic with unmistakable personality.

The Marine Black Sea truly exemplifies his vision in blending high horology with Bauhaus design. Immediately grabbing your attention with its dual-colored red and blue strap, a flying tourbillon takes the center stage inside a bold black PVD titanium porthole-shaped case. Executed in the utmost playful manner, the dial exhibits a colorful painted aquatic scene on a shimmering mother-of-pearl definitely brings out the child in you. The passage of time told by the whimsical hour and minute hands, while the red-tipped starfish starts your day certainly brings a smile to the wearer’s face. Powering this fun interpretation houses a manual-winding engine in a deeply recessed case, where horology excellence is displayed with the flying tourbillon that was designed and signed by Silberstein, and manufactured by Swiss craftsmen. Extraordinary with incomparable playful charm, the present timepiece is in almost unworn condition and offered with its full accessories, and is also numbered 1 out of a series of only 9 pieces.
