Colombian-born, Juan Pablo Montoya entered the world of motorsports at an early age encouraged by his father who taught him the basics of go-karting. From these beginnings, Montoya began his career in F300 and Formula One testing in 1997, and made his Formula One debut in 2001. He competed at the Formula One level until 2006, where he made the switch to compete in the NASCAR circuit. In 2007, he won the Rolex 24 at the Daytona International Speedway, winning it again in 2008 and 2013. He remains one of only two racecar drivers, alongside Mario Andretti, to achieve victory in Formula One, the Indianapolis 500, and the 24 Hours of Daytona. This is just one of numerous accolades that have catapulted him to being named one of the best Formula One drivers of all time.

In 2004, Juan Pablo Montoya became the brand ambassador of Audemars Piguet with the launch of the highly coveted Royal Oak Offshore named after the racecar icon. Gaining immediate traction from F1 fans and collectors all over the globe, this phenomenal timepiece was produced in only two precious metal: titanium in a limited series of 1000 pieces, and like the present example 18K pink gold in a limited series of just 500 pieces. Each individually numbered and fueled with immense racecar driven concept, the Royal Oak Offshore Juan Pablo Montoya edition is simply astonishing. With eight cylinder head screws, carbon fiber armor, clutch disk shaped rotor and pedal like pushers, this hefty timepiece is craft and built like a true motorsport machine. Audemars Piguet also took a stepped further into the dial design, the grand tapisserie dial has an added flair with a subtle motif of a checkered flag as drivers speed pass the finish line. Furthermore, the strap is anything but mundane, pattern stitched, the black strap takes inspiration of padded race suits worn by F1 superstars.

Sublime in mechanics down to every nut and bolt, the present timepiece definitely deserves the podium. Numbered 351 out of a limited series of only 500 pieces, this engine is offered in an attractive condition with its full set of accessories, a true capsule piece and perfect to be worn by collectors during the showdown of the next race week.
