Vacheron Constantin’s reference 4240 is one of the few vintage wristwatch designs by the firm featuring a triple calendar function. To date, examples cased in yellow gold and pink gold are known among scholars, with the vast majority of the latter having been sold in the South American market. The present example, made in 1948, is probably no exception featuring not only the warm rose gold case colour but also the calendar discs for the day of the week and month in Spanish. The multi-toned dial is absolutely unrestored and displays a fascinating patina with tones of honey and copper. Vintage wristwatches, where stunning looks and a very high degree of refined engineering meet at such high level, as with the present watch, are true works of art.
