The Chronomètre Royal was the name for Vacheron Constantin’s top of the line model. First only available with manual calibres, it was later also launched with self-winding movements. The present example is a very rare specimen from 1966, a white gold reference 6950, defined by the fact that it was originally delivered with the present gold bracelet (the version delivered with the leather strap is reference 6694). It is powered by the well-known calibre K1072-1, featuring a chronometric balance and the typical rotor mounted on ruby ball bearings. The example here, where the bracelet and case share throughout the same design of Florentine texturing and the typical brick-stone design, is in excellent and hardly ever used condition. Connoisseurs of vintage wristwatches will agree that the present Chronomètre Royal is one of the most lavish and elaborated wristwatches of the period.
