Transcending elegance and packed with a punch, the yellow gold variant of the famed Rolex Daytona ref. 6265 is a must have for collectors of fine vintage timepieces. Introduced to the public in 1970, the ref. 6265 was the last Cosmograph Daytona to feature a manually wound cal. 727, before Rolex introduced the new ref. 16520 with a self-winding cal. 4030. In production for almost 20 years predominantly in stainless steel cases, it is estimated that not over 2000 examples of the reference were encased in yellow gold.
During the late 1970’s, examples encased in yellow gold were stamped with a movement number under the balance wheel. The reason behind that was due to the fact that the movement was upgraded to an officially certified chronometer movement.

Founded in 1905 England by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis as Wilsdorf & Davis, it soon became known as the Rolex Watch Company in 1915, moving its headquarters to Geneva in 1919.
