  • Catalogue Essay

In 2011, Patek Philippe introduced another important milestone by releasing the ref. 5270. The importance of the reference lays behind the dial, featuring the newly upgraded and Patek Philippe’s first ever in-house perpetual calendar chronograph caliber. Replacing the previous ref. 5970 powered by the last Lemania based caliber used by Patek Philippe, the new was entirely in-house and stamped with the new “PP” seal compared to the previous Geneva seal. Marking a new era to the firm ref, 5270 was introduced in the traditional four case materials including 18K yellow gold, white gold, pink gold and platinum.

At the Baselworld 2018, Patek Philippe introduced their first ref. 5270 fitted with a bracelet encased in 18K pink gold fitted with an attractive black dial creating the perfect contrast against the luxurious pink gold case and bracelet. Whilst maintaining a similar dial layout as its previous iterations, the present no longer features the nicknamed “Jay Leno’s chin” on the 6 O’clock position of the dial. The beaded bracelet featured is iconic to the firm and provides the wearer with great comfort when sported on the wrist. The present example is presented in excellent overall condition with very minimal signs of use and wear.
