  • Cabo de la Vela I, was photographed at the Cabo de la Vela desert in the northern tip of Colombia. The artist recalled 'I remember waking up early in the morning to take a walk, the sun had just risen and there were already some bathers in the ocean taking an early dip.' Pablo López Luz (Mexican, b.1979) explores the relationship between humans and their environment in his landscapes. His experimentations with vantage points and framing challenge our way of engaging with a landscape. López Luz has exhibited at a number of institutions, including the International Center of Photography in New York and Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in Paris and his work is held at Museo de Arte Moderno, Mexico City and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art holds another print of this image.
