Acting as Cataloguer in the  Modern and Contemporary Art Department in New York, this position will be responsible for assisting the Head of Sale with coordinating sales, valuations, cataloguing and researching property.

Based in our London office, Phillips is currently seeking to recruit a full-time Department Assistant reporting to the Deputy Chairman of Private Sales with a dotted line to the Regional Director, Middle East and South Asia. The role will require the candidate to support both senior managers by acting as a liaison for both internal and external clients. Activities will focus on managing consignment contracts, property research and the coordination and completion of valuation documents. The post holder will also work closely with the wider Private Sales team.

Training across all aspects of the role will be provided, and the ideal candidate would be expected to learn quickly and confidently apply this knowledge as they work. The role also presents a unique opportunity to the candidate to work closely with and learn from experienced specialists and managers in the auction industry.

Perform art handler and operational duties for installations, exhibitions, auctions and private viewings at the Park Avenue Gallery.  This position serves as the primary onsite contact for Private Sale / Exhibition department. The Dropshop Manager, Hong Kong oversees the strategic planning, execution, and day-to-day operations of Phillips Dropshop, working across Global Operations, Ecommerce, Marketing, Business Development, Specialist departments, and Technology to deliver a coordinated global digital sales calendar. The position is responsible for developing and executing Dropshop initiatives and shaping compelling online offerings and cross-category collaborations. For Hong Kong drops, the role manages the full operational lifecycle, including customer service, KYC, billing and shipping inquiries, inventory and archive management, campaign and editorial coordination, publishing, fulfillment, expenses, invoicing, reconciliation, and documentation. The role also ensures Dropshop remains aligned with annual budgets, strategic priorities, marketing campaigns, operational requirements, and evolving best practices in digital merchandising and online sales.

The Associate Specialist in the Modern and Contemporary Art Department in New York will be responsible for supporting Heads of Sale and Specialists with overseeing and managing Core sales through valuations, cataloguing and research.  In addition, the role will involve working with Specialists to bring in business and cultivating new long-term business relationships with private and trade buyers, sellers and institutions. The Associate Specialist will also act as Head of Sale at least once a year, as needed. The Technician works closely with the Head technician and full time technician and various stakeholders towards the day to day safe handling, installation / de-installation and packing of Phillips property in line with the sales, exhibitions and events schedule. The role will be required to work from our London gallery in Berkeley Square with travel to our London Warehouse.

Responsible for cataloguing modern & contemporary art – especially for Hong Kong Live & Online Sales – as well as assisting with catalogue design and production. Responsibilities include researching, writing essays, creating condition reports, and translating from English to Chinese (and vice-versa).
