Few partnerships feel as inevitable as Piaget and Andy Warhol. The Pop Art legend famously owned seven Piaget watches and was particularly drawn to the bold Piaget Black Tie of the early 1970s. Thanks to an official collaboration with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts in 2024, the Maison’s cult Black Tie has now been formally reborn as the Andy Warhol watch.
This Piaget Andy Warhol watch is a contemporary reinterpretation that replaces the original gadroons with a meticulously hand-finished two stepped Clous de Paris bezel executed across the complex curves of the 45 mm cushion-shaped white gold case.
Faithful to Piaget’s tradition of exotic dial materials, the meteorite dial is made up mostly of iron and nickel. Naturally in grey with a distinctive crisscrossing Widmanstätten pattern, Piaget treated the iron with acid etching to reveal its natural crystal lines and coloured with a deep blue treatment. Slim dauphine hands and slim applied indexes complete the design with quiet refinement. Inside beats the ultra-thin automatic Piaget calibre 501P1 of just 3.63 mm in height beating at 28,800 vph with a 40-hour power reserve.
Dated 2026, the present example is “brand new” still bearing its original stickers, mint and never worn. Offered for the first time at auction, it is a pristine opportunity to acquire one of the most compelling modern expressions of Piaget’s watchmaking soul that that unites two icons with effortless chic.
Piaget
Swiss | 1874Creativity, audacity and know-how are the values that gave Piaget its international reputation and allowed the brand to distinguish itself in the world of fine watchmaking and precision. Founder Georges Edouard Piaget established the company in 1874 and manufactured watch movements. While Piaget is famously recognized today for their elaborate wristwatch and bangle designs, they also mastered the marriage of their high-quality, in-house-produced wristwatches and stunning pieces of jewelry.
Collectors consider the 1970s as Piaget's era of superb creativity and unbounded designs. During this highly creative period, the brand designed an impressive range of cuff and bracelet watches carved in gold and adorned with exotic hard stones. Admired by most as not only jewelry but also true works of art, the firm's hard stone dial watches remain the most iconic, recognizable and desirable among collectors.
