Voutilainen’s distinctive aesthetics have become his visual signature: richly textured, hand-crafted dials, a 3 piece case with tear drop lugs and his superbly architectural movements.
The present example sits apart from his traditional offerings due to the large 45mm case and use of Cal 32 that has been cased in only a handful of his creations.
Caliber 32 is a larger variant of his better known caliber 28 and derives its name from its size, measuring 32mm in diameter. This caliber is everything one has come to expect from Voutilainen, delicate angles, black polish and perfectly applied cotes de Geneve highlight the manual labor that has gone into the movement. It also features a rare balance-spring system with a large balance wheel, ensuring precise regulation within strict tolerances. The outer curve of the spring uses a traditional Breguet overcoil, while the inner curve employs the Grossmann curve. Its dual escape wheels reduce energy consumption by delivering direct impulses in two directions to the balance via the impulse jewel. Visually, the movement is mesmerizing, with the two blued escapement wheels moving in harmony amidst polished screws, rubies, gold chatons, and wheels.
The balance bridge is also different to what we have come to see with Voutilainen as it is flat as opposed to the rounded cylindrical one found in his Vingt-8 models.
A large case also means a large dial and here thanks to the large diameter the attention to detail and the superlative guillochage of the dial with three different patterns is immediately highlighted.
As engraved on the caseback the watch is a unique piece and fresh to the market.
