  • Catalogue Essay

A former dancer with the internationally renowned Bolshoi Ballet, Vladimir Glynin combines an ethereal aesthetic with a particular penchant for movement. In the series Dream, of which the current lot is an example, Glynin presents the model—pale skinned, white-clad and set against a snow-covered background—occupying a stark apartment
over the course of a day. By layering multiple exposures within the images, Glynin’s work is concerned with capturing the spirit and energy of the model, presenting her as fleeting and intangible.

Glynin’s photographs have been featured at Moscow’s Photo Biennial, Art Moscow art fair and Best of Russia art fair. A member of the International Federation of Artists, Glynin has photographed for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Cosmopolitan, In Style, GQ, Playboy and L'Officiel.
