Since the founding of his own brand in 1995, reputed watchmaker Roger Dubuis has created some of the most attractive chronographs in the world of horology. The Hommage series draws inspiration from Patek Philippe iconic models, while this one features the watchmaker’s favourite complication, the perpetual calendar. Roger Dubuis watches are often very limited in pieces, this particular example is no exception, with only 28 pieces available.

The Hommage series comes in three case sizes, 34mm, 37mm and 40mm. As the reference number H40 hinted, the present example is cased in a 40mm solid pink gold case. The watch features a soothing off-white lacquer dial with stylized Arabic numerals. Featuring the symmetric retrograde indication of the date and day of the week, the wearer can simultaneously locate the information under a pair of skeletonized hands finished in attractive blued steel. A subtle tribute can be spotted while the wearer activates the chronograph pushers, reminiscent of the fluted details of the famed pushers of the Patek Philippe ref. 1463 “Tasti Tondi”, the discreet flare adds elegance and delight to this spectacular timepiece.

Flipping the watch, through the sapphire caseback, one can see the manually wounded Cal. RD 5637, which is based on the legendary Lemania 2310. The Lemania ébauche is topped with a bi-retrograde module co-designed with Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, being used in many other watch designs such as timepieces of Harry Winston.
