  • Catalogue Essay

Introduced in 2011, the Patek Philippe Aquanaut reference 5164 Travel Time is the brand's very first complicated Aquanaut model. It features a practical dual-time function, indicated by an additional white skeleton hand, and the dial showcases both home and local day/night indications through two small apertures. Fitted with two pushers on the left side of the case band, the design maintains the symmetry of the case while allowing for easy adjustment of the local time.

Retaining its iconic case design, the watch measures a comfortable 40.8mm, further enhanced by a sporty rubber strap. The reference was initially introduced in stainless steel and has been discontinued, with the current catalogue now featuring the pink gold iteration and most recently, a white gold variation was released earlier this year in April.

The present example in stainless steel is offered in excellent overall condition and comes from the original owner. It includes its original Certificate of Origin, setting pin, and presentation box, making it a remarkable find for collectors.

    Patek Philippe

    Swiss • 1839

Since its founding in 1839, this famous Geneva-based firm has been surprising its clientele with superbly crafted timepieces fitted with watchmaking's most prestigious complications. Patek's complicated vintage watches hold the highest number of world records for results achieved at auction compared with any other brand. For collectors, key models include the reference 1518, the world's first serially produced perpetual calendar chronograph, and its successor, the reference 2499. Other famous models include perpetual calendars such as the ref. 1526, ref. 3448 and 3450, chronographs such as the reference 130, 530 and 1463, as well as reference 1436 and 1563 split seconds chronographs. Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
