Full-Cataloguing

• Extremely well-preserved condition and full set
Reference 5711 was launched in 2006 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Nautilus. Inspired by the classic sporty design of the original reference 3700 Jumbo Nautilus, the updated modern reference featured sweep center seconds, a sapphire caseback, and an improved bracelet. In the years leading to its discontinuation, the success of reference 5711 increased tremendously, to the point that waiting lists were more than ten years long.
Originally envisioned by genius designer Gerald Genta in 1976, the case design is inspired by a luxury cruiser’s portholes, subtly underlining the marriage of elegance and sporty robustness found in this timepiece. Originally marketed as the ultimate status symbol, with strong emphasis on its high cost even though the watch is cased in stainless steel (period advertisements memorably read: “One of the world’s costliest watches is made of steel”), the model is today one of the most recognized and appreciated sports watches available on the market.
Originally purchased by Eric Clapton, CBE, as documented on the original certificate of origin that accompanies the watch, it appears to be in nearly new condition with hardly any signs of wear, as well as being accompanied by its full suite of accessories.
