GOOD TO KNOW
• Numbered 1 of 5 pieces made in 2007
• Celebrating the 1st anniversary of the brand’s Hong Kong boutique
• Titanium case with 18K pink gold crown, hands, and clasp, ruthenium dial
• One of 20 total “Anniversaire” examples made for four boutiques

Replacing the irreplaceable Tourbillon Souverain with brass movement, the Tourbillon Nouveau (“TN”) model ushered in the solid pink gold movement era of F.P. Journe in 2004, and significantly upped the ante in terms of watchmaking complexity when it came to the movement by incorporating a deadbeat seconds mechanism. Coupled with the preexisting constant force mechanism, the caliber 1403 features markedly improved accuracy over the caliber 1498. The Tourbillon Nouveau remained in production between 2004 and 2018 before being replaced by the Vertical Tourbillon.

While the normal production model was made in either platinum or pink gold, the present piece is anything but a "standard" iteration of the model. In order to celebrate the anniversary of several of Journe’s boutiques, they released a total of 20 limited edition examples made in titanium to commemorate the Tokyo, Hong Kong, Geneva, and Boca Raton boutiques, each location receiving 5 numbered pieces. The case may be titanium, but it is accented by a pink gold crown, hands, and clasp, as well as a ruthenium coated dial with pink gold accents. The present Tourbillon was made to celebrate the first anniversary of the Hong Kong boutique, and is exceptionally numbered 1 of 5.

Consigned by an important and beloved international collector, this Tourbillon Souverain Anniversaire for the Hong Kong boutique is accompanied by its full suite of accessories, a rare catch in the increasingly desirable sea of limited edition F.P. Journes.

F.P. Journe

Swiss | 1999

Founded by watchmaker François-Paul Journe in 1999, the F.P. Journe brand is relatively young, but already is as highly regarded by collectors as many distinguished manufacturers with centuries-old heritage. In the minds of the world's savviest collectors, Journe is producing some of the finest wristwatches the market has ever seen. Mastering his craft from restoring historical timepieces, he was the first to create a wristwatch incorporating two escapements that benefit from the phenomenon of resonance — the Chronomètre à Résonance.

Key models include the Résonance, tourbillon wristwatches incorporating a remontoir and the limited edition Vagabondage series. Especially sought-after are his earliest "souscription" watches, made in 1999.
