The six platinum palladium prints by Melvin Sokolsky offered in Tailor-Made: Fashion Photographs from the Peter Fetterman Collection are the first in this process to appear at auction. The labor-intensive platinum palladium technique yields prints of great nuance, delivering a wider array of tones than conventional photographic media. Working with master print studio Atelier Salto Ulbeek in Belgium, Sokolsky created a series of small editions of select images from his oeuvre. The resulting bravura prints maintain the photographs' graphic impact while revealing an entirely new level of subtle detail.
