Good To Know:
- One of 50 pieces in titanium
- A futuristic and unique design inspired by Japanese anime TV series Capitaine Flam
- Flying tourbillon at the center
- Excellent overall condition with warranty and presentation box
Inspired by the bulbous spaceship from Captain Future (Captain Flam), a popular Japanese animated series from the 1970s and 1980s, the Horological Machine No. 6 (HM6) is affectionately nicknamed the "Space Pirate".
Designed as an organic, wrist-conforming spacecraft, its time display relies on rotating semi-spheres: hours on the left and minutes on the right. At the top center sits a flying tourbillon, which can be concealed or revealed via a retractable titanium shield operated by the left crown. On the reverse, two spherical turbines resembling spacecraft engines spin with wrist movement which are linked to the winding rotor via a gear train, regulating and optimizing automatic winding efficiency.
Production of the HM6 was limited to 100 total movement units across all metal variations: 50 in titanium (as seen in the present example), 18 in 18K pink gold, 10 in sapphire crystal and platinum, 10 in sapphire crystal and pink gold, 8 in stainless steel and 4 unique pieces in the "Alien Nation" edition. Comprising 475 components developed over four years, the HM6 represents a formidable technical tour de force.
Preserved in overall excellent, barely worn condition, the present titanium HM6 is accompanied by its original warranty booklet and its distinctive, spaceship-themed presentation box.
Please note that MB&F generously offers a complementary servicing of the watch to the winning bidder within a period of 6 months after the sale.
