Each executed in 1971.

Dr. Jürgen Pech has confirmed the authenticity of these works, which will be included in the supplementary volume of the complete work of Max Ernst now in preparation, edited by Prof. Dr. Werner Spies in collaboration with Dr. Jürgen Pech and Dr. Sigrid Metken.

These works were a source for colour lithographs in the portfolio: Georges Ribemont-Dessaignes, La ballade du soldat, Pierre Chave, Vence, 15th June 1972, (i) plate XVII & (ii) plate VI and XIX.
