Made Wiradana (b. 1968, Indonesia) paintings seek to expose modern issues. This work is inspired by the energetic and primitive forms in cave paintings. The shapes are simple, yet characterful and laden with meaning.

Wiradana has drawn public attention since 2000, following his controversial “Wiradana’s end of 2001 declaration”. In this, he attempted to reject Western aesthetics, including rational ideas about light and the use of media, by parodying western art and offering alternatives to long-upheld conventions.

Wiradana attended the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta in 1995. He is a member of and the former head (2000–2002) of the Sanggar Dewata Indonesia Organisation of modern artists. In 2003, he held a solo exhibition at Gallery Mon Decor in Jakarta. He still lives and works in Denpasar.
