For the present dish Kenkichi Tomimoto incorporated a line from a poem by the Tang dynasty poet 杜甫(Du Fu): 一徑野花落 (The wild flowers are fallen on the lane), 孤村春水生 (The spring rain fallen on the quiet village).
circa 1950 Stoneware, underglaze brushed designs beneath a transparent glaze. 38.3 cm (15 1/8 in.) diameter Painted artist's mark. Together with signed wooden box.
