  • [Untitled] was gifted to Commissioner and Mrs. Paul J. Carlson, who headed the Southern Territory of the Salvation Army in 1964.

     

    In a handwritten letter to the couple the artist wrote:

     

    “The Song to the Morning star” 

    The Indian rises with his tasks awaiting;  

    To the star of the Great Spirit he will sing, 

    For safety and guidance during his flight 

    Through the dark and mysteries of the coming night.
