    Hilde Lynn Helphenstein

Hilde Lynn Helphenstein (b. 1985) is a contemporary visual artist and storyteller who alters
iconography to influence her audience to see themselves. Helphenstein was born in the
United States but came of age internationally. Cultural myths, social cliches, the power of
gossip, pop culture, and social media have profoundly influenced her artistic journey.
Helphenstein’s work has been characterized as satirical, memetic, and relatable. Best known
for her enormously successful online presence, @jerrygogosian, she has set out to
humorously describe the international art world using viral images, videos, and short but
concise text works. Through memes and humor, she united 128K+ members of the Art
World who can all agree sometimes we are all a little ridiculous.  Helphenstein has not only
wielded her influence on Instagram, but has also sought to bring people together through
1K+ person dance parties, shared social causes, major brand collaborations such as On
Running, Ruinart, The EDITION Hotel, The Standard Hotel, and MATCHESFASHION.
Helphenstein’s work and ideas have been featured in the Wallstreet Journal, The Observer, Le Monde, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, and GQ. On top of her career in the Art World,
Helphenstein is also a member of NYU Stern’s Executive MBA class of 2025 where she is
working on strategic communication skills to use her voice to unite people around Art and
    mutual cross-cultural understanding.
