When the Design Museum set out to find its new home, the first choice was a site next to Herzog and de Meuron’s transformation of the Bankside powerstation into the Tate Modern. We talked to them about choosing an architect to design a new Design Museum that would sit comfortably alongside their work, but in the event, ended up in Kensington.
