Born in 1987, Spanish artist Guim Tió Zarraluki explores the idiosyncratic interactions between humans and the environment through his practice. Featuring solitary figures enveloped in vast, undulating landscapes, the artist’s atmospheric works are imbued with a sense of tender tranquility.
The artist’s 2017 solo exhibition Unreal Space at YIRI ARTS, Taipei, marked a tonal shift in his oeuvre. Departing from a previously established style of composite portraiture that exposed the disjuncture between outward appearances and inner being, his focus shifted to portraying spaces of desire, solitude and introspection. The artist’s evocative paintings are a testament to his enduring curiosity towards the human condition.
Guim Tió Zarraluki is represented by YIRI ARTS, Taipei. His latest solo exhibitions include Ja no hi és el xiprerat Alzueta Gallery, Girona (11 May – 9 June 2024) and Roots at Ruttkowski;68, New York (30 June – 12 August 2023). In recent years, the artist has participated in various exhibitions in Paris, Barcelona, London, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
