In this artwork, Egg Fiasco depicts a shattered mirror, interrogating the human inclination towards vanity and our enduring dependence on physical beauty. Mirrors have traditionally held a significant role in literature and art as symbols of self-reflection and self-identity. However, in this piece, Fiasco deliberately fractures the mirror, effectively conveying the fragmented nature of the self. This representation vividly illustrates that an individual’s identity is not a cohesive whole, but is instead composed of countless broken shards.

Fiasco is best known for his graffiti and mural works, which contribute to the growing urban art culture in the Philippines. Whilst he does make works on canvas, his artistic career started with him creating art on the streets, a route also taken by artists such as Futura 2000, Shepard Fairey and Os Gemeos. Alongside a brotherhood of like-minded artists, Fiasco has become part of the second generation of urban artists of the mid-2000s that has pushed the growth of the urban art community. He has shown his work throughout the Philippines and has represented his nation abroad in galleries and museums, including the Vertical Gallery in Chicago and the Heron Arts in California.
