GOOD TO KNOW
• Consigned by the original owner, a VIP Cartier client, purchased at Place Vendôme
• Numbered 46 out of 50
• Received in 2004 as a part of the CPCP line
• Preserved in excellent condition as a full collector’s set

In 1998, the “Collection Privée, Cartier Paris” was launched in honour of the most iconic Cartier timepieces over its decorated heritage. Including models such as the Santos, Tortue and Tank, the Cintrée is one of the most exclusive and well-received limited edition series offered by the Maison. The present Tank was released in 2004 from this line of highly coveted and rare watches. The Cintrée is both slightly thinner and longer than the larger Américaine. With curves that hug the contours of the wrist, the present timepiece serves as a tasteful dress watch, fitting comfortably beneath the cuff. Encased in platinum and limited to only 50 pieces, the ref. 2843 stands out from its peers as it is the only model from the CPCP collection that does not feature “Paris” on its dial. Unlike its predecessor, the re-issued Tank Cintrée features a warm white dial with animated Arabic numerals in black, instead of Roman numerals.

The contemporary Tank Cintrée is one that is adored by many due to its timeless flare and clean aesthetic. Consigned by a long-time VIP client of Cartier, he purchased the watch directly from the Boutique Cartier Paris - Place Vendôme. Preserved in excellent overall condition, the present example numbered 46 out of the 50-piece limited edition. Hardly ever worn and absolutely complete with all of its original accessories including its numbered certificate and second wooden box with loupe, this is a rare opportunity for Cartier connoisseurs.

Cartier

French

With the Constitution of 1848 came a new standard for luxury in France. Founded one year prior by Louis-Francois Cartier, the house of Cartier was one of the first to use platinum in jewelry making. This incredibly expensive material became the stepping-stone for Cartier to experiment in form, mechanisms and attitude. It helped men move from pocket watches to wristwatches, effectively making the watch much more functional and prominent in a man's overall wardrobe.

Cartier did not only touch on functionality. Inspired by a commissioned painting by George Barbier featuring a black panther at the feet of an elegantly bejeweled woman, Cartier began incorporating wild animals in his designs—most notably, Cartier Panthère rings, bangle bracelets and watches. Yet it wasn't until the late 1960s that the house of Cartier debuted their iconic yellow and rose gold LOVE collection, which includes the famous bracelet that only a special screwdriver can open.
