  • Catalogue Essay

The three-legged version of the present model chair was exhibited at the 'Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild', Kunstindustrimuseet, Copenhagen, 20 September – 7 October 1956, Stand 13.

The sophisticated and refined lines of the present model sofa and chair are representative of Danish Modern design. Acquired in Sweden, the sofa is a particularly rare example of which few examples are known, and the chair is a recognisable design with several variants. Brockmann-Petersen’s work, including a three-legged version of the present model chair, was displayed at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild exhibitions. Further, the use of high-quality wood and cane in these two pieces make them perfect examples of Danish Modern design from the mid-1900s.
