In this suite of works, Bembol dela Cruz depicts the deconstructed parts of a Volkswagen. This piece presents the front of the VW bus, one of the most iconic vehicles of the counter-culture movement in the 1960s. Rusted, worn and unserviceable, these parts evoke the spirit of a much freer age. In 2024, the celebrated minibus will be resurrected as an electric vehicle demonstrating, as the artwork’s title suggests, that nothing good should be left behind or wasted.

Renowned for his stylised hyperrealistic paintings, dela Cruz blurs the line between art and reality in his artworks. He has held numerous solo exhibitions in notable galleries in Metro Manila and participated in residencies at the Liverpool Hope University, UK, the Berkshire Residency Exchange in West Massachusetts and Art OMI in Ghent, New York.

This lot is physically located in the Philippines.
