Having created vivid scenes of local life for over 20 years, Penang-based artist Alex Leong is well known for his watercolour paintings. In this piece, Leong skillfully captures an idyllic day out at the Singapore Botanical Gardens. With his characteristically fine brushwork and meticulous style, Leong brings to life a scene in which families immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the gardens.

Leong’s talent has been recognised from the start of his artistic career and he has been bestowed with several official accolades, including first place in the Putrajaya National Watercolour Competition in 2006. His paintings, particularly his Malaysian street scenes, are coveted at local art auctions. Notably, his artworks were sold out at his solo exhibition at Jada Art Gallery, Singapore, in 2018.
