  • Catalogue Essay

The present Ulysse Nardin chronograph is one of the most attractive and best preserved examples to come to the market in recent years. In virtually unworn and unpolished condition, it is very likely still featuring the original crystal, leather strap and gold buckle.
The case is characterised by its triple faceted lugs and generous diameter of over 35 mm. The dial was most likely a special order as the Ulysse Nardin signature is positioned below the centre, allowing Rome’s distinguished retailer Verga to apply their firm’s logo.
Not only a most handsome chronograph in its own right but also quite similar to Rolex’s celebrated reference 3330, from two feet distance one could easily attribute this wonderful Ulysse Nardin a value 10 or 20 times higher than its current estimate.

    Ulysse Nardin

    Swiss • 1846

Founded in 1846 in Le Locle, Switzerland, Ulysse Nardin is a widely acclaimed Swiss watch manufacturer that earned recognition for its precision chronometers during the early to mid-twentieth century. Ulysse Nardin himself was a trained watchmaker under the guidance of his father, Leonard-Frederic Nardin, as well as master watchmakers Frederic William Dubois and Louis Jean Richard-dit-Bressel. Collectors in particular seek this brand's oversized vintage chronograph wristwatches, including the reference 7536-2.
