  • Catalogue Essay

One of the world's rarest and most fascinating gemstones throughout history is Alexandrite, a gem variety of the mineral chrysoberyl that changes color from green in daylight to red in incandescent light. The present cat's eye alexandrite is a fine example of this specimen, it is particularly incredible because it exhibits two rare phenomena: both the cat's-eye effect and color-change.
