Brooklyn-based artist Aurora Robson is known for her multi-media practice and her transformative work intercepting the waste stream- the aggregate of material and detritus. The title of the present lot, 52 Hertz, is derived from the nickname of a whale with a distinct sonar frequency that has been baffling marine biologists for decades, both in terms of the whale's species and the reason for its unique voice. The present lot stems from a body of work created specifically for an exhibition at the Figge Museum, Everything, All At Once, Forever, featuring unique works by the artist that problematize waste, evoking environmental concerns through the most elegant forms.
