With the release of caliber 2160 in 2018, Vacheron Constantin introduced a groundbreaking in-house manufactured self-winding tourbillon movement. This movement features a tourbillon carriage that rotates once per minute, enhancing the overall precision. Vacheron cleverly opted for a peripherally mounted 22k gold rotor, which elegantly skirts the outer edges of the finely decorated movement. This design keeps the entire movement remarkably slim at just 5.65mm, visible through the sapphire caseback, and boasts an impressive power reserve of approximately 80 hours.

In 2021, The Hour Glass Japan celebrated its 25th anniversary since its establishment in 1996. The retailer also marked the 10th anniversary of its current location in Ginza, which opened in April 2010. To commemorate these milestones, The Hour Glass Ginza underwent a complete renovation and created a very special edition of the Traditionnelle Tourbillon in platinum. This limited edition pays tribute to the important retailer, known for supporting both established watchmaking powerhouses and independent brands. A total of 12 pieces were created across two editions, and the present example is numbered 1, featuring a mesmerizing blue asymmetrical rose engine guilloché pattern.

Offered in excellent overall condition with its original accessories, this example will be a significant addition to any tourbillon collection, designed to be worn on exquisite occasions.

  • Artist Biography

    Vacheron Constantin

    Swiss • 1755

The world's oldest watch brand in continuous operation since its founding in 1755, Vacheron Constantin was the first watch company to manufacture movements with interchangeable parts beginning in 1839. Vacheron's watches are admired for their Latin-influenced case designs, well-balanced proportions and exquisitely finished movements of the highest quality. The Geneva-based manufacturer is known for their highly complicated masterpieces, including the King Farouk Grand Complication made in 1935, the Tour de l'Ile that was the most complicated serially produced wristwatch when introduced in 2005 and the 57260 — the world’s most complicated watch — made in 2015.

Key vintage models include minute repeating wristwatches such as the references 4261, chronographs such as the references 4178 and 6087 and the oversized Cioccolotone models such as ref. 4737. Collectors also appreciate Vacheron's Chronometer Royal pocket and wristwatches, as well as the '222,' the brand's first luxury sports watch produced from 1977 through 1984.
