Full-Cataloguing
- Fresh-to-the-market from the original owner
- One of two known in this configuration
- Legendary skeletonized ultra-thin self-winding cal. 1120/1 with engraved details
The reference 43031 and 43032, released in 1983 and 1984 respectively, represented Vacheron Constantin’s signature take on an ultra-thin perpetual calendar wristwatch. The former was fitted with a classic solid dial, while the latter featured a spectacular skeletonized movement with hand-engraved mainplates and bridges. Closely related to these pioneering references, the reference 43531 was introduced later, debuting around 1990 alongside the present reference 43532 featuring factory diamond settings.
Sharing its core architecture with the reference 43032, the reference 43532 elevates the skeletonized perpetual calendar concept with a factory-set diamond bezel adorned with 80 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling approximately 0.33 carats. Available in yellow gold and platinum, platinum models were offered with either white or striking blue subsidiary dials. At the heart of the platinum case lies the ultra-thin, self-winding cal. 1120/1, based on the legendary Jaeger-LeCoultre cal. 920 ébauche and paired with a perpetual calendar module developed by Dubois-Dépraz.
The present watch is an exceptionally rare example, as skeletonized Vacheron Constantin perpetual calendars featuring vivid blue subsidiary dials are exceedingly scarce. Only a handful of reference 43532 timepieces have ever appeared on the international auction market and the present watch is only the second known platinum example with blue subsidiary dials to be offered publicly at auction—the first having been sold at our The Hong Kong Watch Auction: ONE.
Preserved in excellent overall condition, this fresh-to-the-market timepiece is complete with its original accessories. Combining neo-vintage design appeal, skeletonized hand-engraving, and gem-setting, it showcases traditional Swiss haute horlogerie at its finest.
Vacheron Constantin
Swiss | 1755The world's oldest watch brand in continuous operation since its founding in 1755, Vacheron Constantin was the first watch company to manufacture movements with interchangeable parts beginning in 1839. Vacheron's watches are admired for their Latin-influenced case designs, well-balanced proportions and exquisitely finished movements of the highest quality. The Geneva-based manufacturer is known for their highly complicated masterpieces, including the King Farouk Grand Complication made in 1935, the Tour de l'Ile that was the most complicated serially produced wristwatch when introduced in 2005 and the 57260 — the world’s most complicated watch — made in 2015.
Key vintage models include minute repeating wristwatches such as the references 4261, chronographs such as the references 4178 and 6087 and the oversized Cioccolotone models such as ref. 4737. Collectors also appreciate Vacheron's Chronometer Royal pocket and wristwatches, as well as the '222,' the brand's first luxury sports watch produced from 1977 through 1984.
