Full-Cataloguing
- Numbered 1 of only 10 pieces made in platinum
- Movement cal. 1145 based on the Lemania 1872 cam-lever chronograph
- Semi-skeletonized dial with incredible hand-engraved finishing
- Delivered with Extract confirming production in 2000
Launched in 2000, the Medicus takes its name from its pulsation dial, a graduated scale that enables physicians to calculate the heartbeat of their patients with precision and ease.
The Medicus was produced in a limited edition in pink gold and platinum, offered with either a full dial or in the openwork skeletonized form exemplified by the present example. It is within this latter iteration that the model achieves its most compelling expression: the movement has been fully skeletonized and hand-engraved, transforming the calibre into a work of art that showcases Vacheron Constantin's incredible dedication to craftsmanship.
The present example, ref. 47151/000P-8917, is cased in platinum, reserved by Vacheron Constantin for its most important and limited creations. Furthermore, the present piece is numbered 1/10. This extreme scarcity renders the present watch a singular proposition: a Medicus in the most noble metal, in the most elaborate execution, and numbered 1 of only 10 pieces made.
Offered in excellent overall condition with its fitted presentation box and Extract from the Archives, the present Les Complications Medicus represents a rare opportunity to acquire a watch of exceptional scarcity, technical artistry, and historical significance.
Vacheron Constantin
Swiss | 1755The world's oldest watch brand in continuous operation since its founding in 1755, Vacheron Constantin was the first watch company to manufacture movements with interchangeable parts beginning in 1839. Vacheron's watches are admired for their Latin-influenced case designs, well-balanced proportions and exquisitely finished movements of the highest quality. The Geneva-based manufacturer is known for their highly complicated masterpieces, including the King Farouk Grand Complication made in 1935, the Tour de l'Ile that was the most complicated serially produced wristwatch when introduced in 2005 and the 57260 — the world’s most complicated watch — made in 2015.
Key vintage models include minute repeating wristwatches such as the references 4261, chronographs such as the references 4178 and 6087 and the oversized Cioccolotone models such as ref. 4737. Collectors also appreciate Vacheron's Chronometer Royal pocket and wristwatches, as well as the '222,' the brand's first luxury sports watch produced from 1977 through 1984.
