Vacheron Constantin is one of the most prolific brands in terms of lines and designs as exemplified by the Kalla and by the MCMLXXII lines.

The Kalla line, spawned from the unique Kallista made in 1979, is the ultimate tribute Vacheron Constantin makes to the art of gem-setting. Encompassing over the years a number of different models, the defining feature of these watches is always their incredibly opulent gem-setting, both in terms of stone size and also in terms of watch surface covered in gems.

The MCMLXXII (which is 1972 in Roman numerals) line pays tribute to the unrestrained creativity and design of the 1970s with its asymmetrical trapezoidal case. These models as well are inspired by a historical piece, a creation made in the eponymous year to celebrate Vacheron winning the highly coveted award “Diplôme du Prestige de la France”.

The two souls are reunited in the present piece where the peculiar architecture of the case is highlighted by the baguette emerald-set bezel, diamond pavé dial, and diamond pavé bands. The lovely detail of the diamond-set crown tops the ensemble of what is one of the most remarkable unions of design and gem-setting to ever come from the brand.

One of only 2 examples made, the watch is offered accompanied by a remarkable number of documents among which an additional Certificate of Origin and Ownership Transfer Papers which detail the provenance of the piece.

Vacheron Constantin

Swiss | 1755

The world's oldest watch brand in continuous operation since its founding in 1755, Vacheron Constantin was the first watch company to manufacture movements with interchangeable parts beginning in 1839. Vacheron's watches are admired for their Latin-influenced case designs, well-balanced proportions and exquisitely finished movements of the highest quality. The Geneva-based manufacturer is known for their highly complicated masterpieces, including the King Farouk Grand Complication made in 1935, the Tour de l'Ile that was the most complicated serially produced wristwatch when introduced in 2005 and the 57260 — the world’s most complicated watch — made in 2015.

Key vintage models include minute repeating wristwatches such as the references 4261, chronographs such as the references 4178 and 6087 and the oversized Cioccolotone models such as ref. 4737. Collectors also appreciate Vacheron's Chronometer Royal pocket and wristwatches, as well as the '222,' the brand's first luxury sports watch produced from 1977 through 1984.
