Catalogue Essay
Made in circa 1965, this stainless steel GMT-Master ref.1675 features an exceedingly rare Mark 0 matte dial — the dial configuration which predates the Mark 1 dial. The present watch signifies Rolex’s transition from gilt to matte dial, which would grace the ref. 1675 for the rest of its production run. The dial bears the same font and lettering placement as the latter gilt dial, with the printing in white. The shape of the coronet is also identical the one seen on the gilt dial before the transition.
Another significant characteristic of the Mark 0 dial is the luminous materials applied on the hour markers and hands which would react under UV light, like the later gilt and early Mark 1 dials. Preserved in excellent condition, the case displays crisp edges and sharp numbers between the lugs. Most notably, the colors of the iconic Pepsi bezel have aged into the charming hues of light sapphire and pastel pink, confidently exuding an authentic aura of classic charm.
