    - Before establishing his eponymous brand, Roger Dubuis dedicated various years working for well established brands like Longines and Patek Philippe, specializing in their high complications department. This extensive experience profoundly shaped his approach to watchmaking. Collaborating with Marc Wiederrecht, who later founded Agenhor, the duo created a bi-retrograde perpetual calendar movement. This innovative movement was showcased in the Harry Winston Bi-Retrograde Perpetual Calendar, introduced at Baselworld 1989.

    - The Roger Dubuis Sympathie Perpetual Calendar epitomizes Geneva watchmaking excellence, setting the foundation for avant-garde watchmaking and spearheading the early independent watchmaking movement. Roger Dubuis, the individual, established a brand that embodied his approach to traditional watchmaking, laying the groundwork for subsequent independent brands.

    - The present early Sympathie Perpetual Calendar, featuring a black dial, retains an elegant silhouette with a touch of sporty ambiance. Crafted from lapis lazuli, the moon-phase disc at six o'clock creates a stunning night sky effect, showcasing the inherent beauty of the natural stone. Early models like the present example, showcase a glass that follows the gentle curves of the case, whilst visually impressive this was changed at a later stage for round glasses.

    - Having received certification as a chronometer from the Besançon Observatory in France, the timepiece also proudly bears the Geneva Seal – a significant hallmark that held particular importance for Dubuis, influenced by his tenure at Patek. Quite notably, the master regulator that worked on the certification of this timepiece was Mr. Dubuis himself.

    - Preserved in excellent condition the present Sympathie Bi-Retrograde Calendar is further complete with its full set of accessories and certifications.

    - Please note that the proceeds of the present timepiece will be donated by the consignor to various charities.
