Among the many technically audacious creations by Richard Mille, the RM 11 family stands as one of the brand’s most recognizable and successful chronograph platforms. First introduced in 2007 with the RM 011, the series embodies the brand’s philosophy of combining avant-garde materials, Formula-1-inspired engineering, and uncompromising mechanical complexity. The RM 11-05 represents the latest evolution of this lineage, refining both the materials science and functionality that have become synonymous with the Richard Mille aesthetic.

Unveiled in 2020, the RM 11-05 distinguishes itself through the introduction of grey Cermet, a high-performance composite combining the lightness of titanium with the hardness of ceramic, resulting in a material whose durability approaches that of diamond. This innovative bezel is paired with a Carbon TPT caseband and a grade-5 titanium caseback, giving the watch a bold architectural presence while maintaining remarkable lightness on the wrist.

Beneath the skeletonized dial beats the automatic calibre RMAC3, a technically sophisticated movement crafted largely in grade-5 titanium. The mechanism integrates a 24-hour flyback chronograph, GMT function adjustable via a push-piece at 9 o’clock, and a practical annual calendar with oversized date at 12 o’clock and month display between 4 and 5 o’clock.

The present piece, numbered 71 out of 140 pieces, exemplifies Richard Mille’s mastery in merging advanced materials, technical ingenuity, and unmistakable design language. At once a practical instrument for the international traveler and a statement of contemporary haute horlogerie, it remains one of the most compelling modern chronographs from the brand.

Richard Mille

Swiss | 1999

Established in 1999, Richard Mille's ultra-modern timepieces combine cutting-edge materials from high performance worlds such as Formula 1 racecars with high-end traditional watchmaking. The brand's revolutionary designs, technical breakthroughs and exceptional hand-finishing excite even the most discriminating collectors, and have positioned Richard Mille alongside the top makers of the modern luxury watch world.

Innovative watches, such as the RM 027 Tourbillon, which was the world’s lightest mechanical watch when introduced in 2011, have helped the brand invert the concept of the luxury watch. Key models include the RM 009 Tourbillon cased in Aluminum Silicon Carbide (AlSiC), the RM 027-02 Tourbillon made for tennis star Rafael Nadal with a case made from quartz and carbon fiber and the RM 008 split seconds chronograph.
