Black Tie “Andy Warhol” No.1
A very rare and attractive limited edition white gold cushion-shaped wristwatch with meteorite dial, warranty and presentation box, numbered 1 of a limited edition of 28 pieces
Full-Cataloguing
- In the Biennale des Antiquaires in 2014, Piaget launched the Extremely Piaget collection, bringing back the Black Tie watch to attention. While many people had been already addressing the watch as the “Andy Warhol”, soon following an agreement with the Andy Warhol Foundation, the model is officially renamed as the Andy Warhol watch.
- While retaining the original style of the case, Piaget has released several Andy Warhol watches with dials made of astonishing, exotic stones and minerals. The present watch, released in 2017, features a meteorite dial of iron-nickel alloy, with the distinctive Widmanstätten pattern that can only be formed in extremely slow cooling process in space. The natural occurring, and interlocking crystalline structure makes every meteorite dial a unique piece of their own.
- This model is rare and numbered 1 out of 28 pieces, which was only seen once in the auction market before, making it a truly collectible item. In excellent overall condition, this watch would be a prized collection for watch connoisseurs that enjoy exotic dials and unusual shaped timepieces.
Piaget
Swiss | 1874Creativity, audacity and know-how are the values that gave Piaget its international reputation and allowed the brand to distinguish itself in the world of fine watchmaking and precision. Founder Georges Edouard Piaget established the company in 1874 and manufactured watch movements. While Piaget is famously recognized today for their elaborate wristwatch and bangle designs, they also mastered the marriage of their high-quality, in-house-produced wristwatches and stunning pieces of jewelry.
Collectors consider the 1970s as Piaget's era of superb creativity and unbounded designs. During this highly creative period, the brand designed an impressive range of cuff and bracelet watches carved in gold and adorned with exotic hard stones. Admired by most as not only jewelry but also true works of art, the firm's hard stone dial watches remain the most iconic, recognizable and desirable among collectors.
