- The reference 5035 marked a significant milestone in Patek Philippe’s watchmaking history as the maison’s very first wristwatch with an annual calendar complication. Debuted in 1996, this stunning Calatrava piece immediately gained acclaim and was awarded “Watch of the Year.”
- Produced in a limited run of 2,500 pieces in each metal—yellow, white and pink gold, as well as platinum—the model was discontinued in 2005. Powered by the calibre 315, the ref. 5035 requires adjustment only once a year, it is no surprise that this ingenious design became a staple in Patek Philippe's catalogue. A wide array of dial colors was offered: black, white, silver and in rarer quantities, salmon or blue.
- Originally featuring a salmon dial, the present watch is a particularly charming example, as the dial has aged into a rich red/purple hue, giving the timepiece immense uniqueness, charm and character. Upon closer inspection, some original salmon spots remain alongside varying intensities of tropicalization, revealing the areas most exposed to air—a true telltale sign of original condition.
- Fitted with applied Roman numerals, the ivory-hued luminous material works exceptionally well, adding a touch of modern practicality to this vintage-inspired timepiece.
