Catalogue Essay
- The Calatrava model has long been the cornerstone of Patek Philippe's collection of time-only wristwatches. It made its debut in 1932 with the legendary reference 96 and has since undergone continuous upgrades and modernizations.

- In 2013, Patek Philippe introduced the reference 5227, which featured a 39mm diameter case and housed the automatic 324 SC caliber with center seconds and a date function. This reference is still available today and offered in 18K yellow, white, and pink gold options.

- Showcasing timeless elegance of black, the present Calatrava in white gold and adorned with a lacquered black dial is the essence of understated beauty. Clean and highly legible thanks to the black date and shimmering white gold hands and trapezoid markers, the watch incorporates an innovative hinged caseback reminiscent of the officer's style case. Patek Philippe invested two years in developing this hidden hinged back, which seamlessly integrates into the case, allowing collectors to admire the meticulously finished movement within.

- Complementing this ref. 5227G is a very special inscription in subtle white, Tiffany & Co. Extremely rare with only a handful of examples bearing the prestigious retailer on the reference. According to our research, the present example is the third piece to appear publicly in the auction market.

- Notably, with early examples engraved "Patek Philippe" inside the caseback, later examples like this watch are left blank, providing owners with the option to personalize the watch themselves.

- Preserved in “like-new” overall condition, the watch is further complete with all its accompanying accessories and eye-catching Tiffany & Co. packaging.
