Catalogue Essay
From the very first award winning ref. 5035 fitted with the calibre 315 S QA 24H in 1996, the annual calendar has been one of the most ingenious and useful complication that has been in the Patek Philippe collection for over 25 years. With the simplicity of indicating the day of the week, date and month and the delight of correction only once a year, it is an incredibly practical timepiece that can be worn everyday.

In 2006, the firm launched the vintage-inspired two-tone sector dial ref. 5396 in pink gold, followed by white gold version like the present example in 2008. Inside housed a calibre that features a Spiromax balance spring and a Gyromax balance-wheel. The monochromatic contrast of the silvered tone dial framed by the navy blue sector markings displays exquisite design proportions. The collection continues its brilliance by offering different displays and nuances of style, two years after its release, the reference took on a classic approach with applied indexes much like the ref. 3448. Preserved in excellent condition, this is a perfect opportunity to own an early and fresh-to-the-market example of a modern classic.
