Catalogue Essay
- To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission with such significant achievement of extraterrestrial exploration of mankind, Omega released this limited edition Speedmaster Professional, with only 6,969 pieces available.

- Different from previous Speedmaster Moonwatches, this model is fitted with a bezel made of Omega’s exclusive 18K Moonshine™ Gold, together with the black dial with gold hinted markings, creating a mesmerizing contrast to the cold metallic colour of the stainless steel case. The dial also has a step just like the old Moonwatch models in the 1960s. The seconds sub-dial at the 9 o’clock position is a laser engraving of iconic imagery shot by Neil Armstrong as Buzz Aldrin descended the ladder of the spacecraft module. The hour marker for 11 o’clock is a subtle tribute to the Apollo 11 mission, a nice touch to remind such important history of mankind.

- The present watch houses the calibre 3861, which is a manual-winding movement with the co-axial escapement. The movement is highly accurate, certified as a Master Chronometer, it provides superior precision comparing to just chronometer certified watches. It also has a 50-hour power reserve, which brings convenience for a manual-winding watch.

- The caseback is presented with a 18K Moonshine™ Gold-plated engraving of the legendary quote “THAT’S ONE SMALL STEP FOR A MAN, ONE GIANT LEAP FOR MANKIND”, with the famous footprint of the first man on the moon engraved on the medallion under the sapphire crystal. The bracelet is also a tribute to the legendary Speedmaster Ref. 105.012, and accompanied by the accessories is a Velcro strap with black-coated cork which is the same material used for the boost protective cover during the launch.

- This lot comes with a plentiful of accessories that no other Speedmaster models can compare, including a Lunar Module Eagle display stand, commemorative mission patches, said Velcro strap and product literature with a pressed image of the Moon Footprint. This is an opportunity that no Speedmaster lovers, astronomy enthusiasts and watch collectors should miss.

Omega

Swiss | 1848

Omega's rich history begins with its founder, Louis Brandt, who established the firm in 1848 in La Chaux de Fonds. In 1903, the company changed its name to Omega, becoming the only watch brand in history to have been named after one its own movements. A full-fledged manufacturer of highly accurate, affordable and reliable watches, its sterling reputation enabled them to be chosen as the first watch company to time the Olympic Games beginning in 1932. Its continued focus on precision and reliability ultimately led their Speedmaster chronograph wristwatch to be chosen by NASA in 1965 — the first watch worn on the moon.

Key models sought-after by collectors include their first, oversized water-resistant chronograph — the reference 2077, early Speedmaster models such as the CK 2915 and 2998, military-issued versions of the Seamaster and oversized chronometer models such as those fitted with their prestigious caliber 30T2Rg.
