Catalogue Essay
The present NH Type 2C is made of 904L, rather than the typical 316L, stainless steel for a warmer glow, despite its higher density. It is therefore more challenging to machine. In this third-generation case, the lugs seem to have a more sweeping shape and are slimmer. Meanwhile, the dial is made of German silver which features a lacquer-filled closed chemin de fer minute track. The engraved numerals are exquisite, with a hint of serifs and an open 6 spelling out a language balancing between Art Deco and utilitarian graphic design. In the center, the dial steps down to its final level with a modern logo below 12 almost shy in its size and airy spacing. The hand-polished hands are another highlight of the watch. The hour and minute hands are round in profile while the seconds hand is heat-blued with a downward sweep of its tip towards the brushed minute track.

Housed within the sleek 37mm stainless steel case is the Caliber 3020CS, a movement derived from the Valjoux 7750, reengineered without its chronograph function. Although the movement remains hidden behind a solid case back, which was updated in 2022 to a micro-machined screw-in design, it features a newly developed click mechanism that enhances the tactile, vintage-inspired experience of winding the watch. This minimalist configuration reflects the spirit of Japanese independent watchmaking. From 2022 to 2023, the production number of the model totals to 20 pieces only, offered in excellent overall condition, the present timepiece comes with its certificate and is paired with a blue leather strap with ivory lining.
