Catalogue Essay
- Horologer MING, or simply MING, has been known for the innovative yet unconventional look of their watches. With an appetite in making watches that are unique from other brands, MING has been experimenting with different materials and metals, and improvising the usual watch designs, giving the timepieces a modern and clean aesthetic. Watches of all series are limited in production; thus, every release did not last long until they were all sold out.
- MING released their first GMT model, the 17.03 GMT, in 2018, following that they introduced the second model of the complication but with a visual update which is this present two-tone wristwatch. It operates with the Sellita cal. SW330.M2, which is a movement modified by Schwarz-Etienne from the the Sellita cal. SW330-2.
- Being a photographer as well, founder Ming Thein always includes visual layering on the watches. The dial of this dual-time watch has a dark cyan outer ring and a dark gold centre, topping with antireflective sapphire, it creates an inversion under different light conditions. The golden GMT markings are on top of the sapphire and white time indices are printed under the top crystal, with hands matching their respective colours that they indicate. The clever display of the markings and colours of the dial creates a mesmerizing effect, even creating an illusion that the numerals are floating.
- The watch is cased in grade 5 titanium, which provides great protection and corrosion resistance, and has a water resistance to 100m. It is an ideal watch that bears a slick design and holds functionalities sufficient for daily use.
