  • Catalogue Essay

    - Launched in 2007, the HM1 was the very first of the Horological Machines series and probably one of the most iconic MB&F's timepiece. Groundbreaking and unique, it was the world’s first movement with four barrels connected in both parallel and series, also the first wristwatch movement to receive energy simultaneously from two distinct sources for the regulating system.

    - With a unique “double bubble” case shape, the HM1 set the foundation for much of the fundamental design language of Horological machines, and for the most part, subsequent HMs would stick to the core principles established in the original.

    - Developed in collaboration with genius watchmakers Peter Speake-Marin and Laurent Besse, the movement features no less than 376 components, the distinctive 22k gold ‘battle-axe’ winding rotor, and boasts an exceptional 7 days power reserve.

    - Offered in superb, virtually unworn condition, the present MB&F Horological Machine number 1, is further accompanied by its full set of accessories and additional Etro messenger bag.

    - According to the book "MB&F the First 15 Years, A Catalogue Raisoné" only 25 pieces were made in this configuration.
