  • Catalogue Essay

Unconventional and daring to be different, the Horological Machine No.2 is set to make a statement by its radical approach to high-end horology. Staying true to Maximilian Büsser’s unique interpretation of independent watchmaking, the HM2 is the world’s first mechanical engine to offer an instantaneous jumping hour, concentric retrograde minutes and date, bi-hemisphere moon phase with automatic winding movement.

Designed with a heavy influence of space platforms of 20th century science fiction, the dynamic tension of the technicality and aesthetic of the timepiece is truly one-of-a-kind. The HM2 features flying buttresses with dual bolted portholes that exemplifies harmonious symmetry. While the passage of time can be witnessed on the right dial with jumping of the hour and retrograde minutes indication, the wearer can admire the parallel universe of the poetic movement from the two beautiful white gold bi-hemispheres moon phases displayed on the left dial.

The engine of this machine is micro-engineered by Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, watchmaker and founder of Agenhor, this three-dimensional horological masterpiece is powered by a Sowind base is made out of 349 components. The series was sculpted in limited editions of 6 variants, each with unique look and precious material combinations from 18K pink gold or white gold, sapphire crystal, and finally like the present example, grade 5 titanium and ceramic. Offered in excellent condition, the present HM2 is part of a limited edition of 66 pieces. Showcasing the very best of traditional craftsmanship juxtaposing with the revolutionary vision of design, this distinct timepiece sure captures the eye of connoisseurs with a deep passion for futuristic flair.
