- In the 1990s, IWC watchmaker Kurt Klaus saw a client wearing the original Portugieser in his atelier, which led to IWC picking the model as a Jubilee timepiece for their 125th anniversary in 1993. Since then, the IWC Portugieser collection has become one of the brand’s most iconic and desirable series, well-known for the precision time-keeping and oversized watchcases.
- First released in 1998, the Portugieser Chronograph ref. IW3714 is one of IWC’s most popular and prized models.
