Catalogue Essay
The IWC Portugieser was first introduced over 80 years ago from the request of two Portuguese businessmen to commission a wristwatch with the precision of a marine chronometer. Since then, the Portugieser has become an important flagship collection of the firm. While the very first examples were chronometer timepieces, the iconic case has housed various complications over course of its production, including Kurt Klaus’ signature perpetual calendar module.

In 2010, IWC introduced the Portugieser Perpetual Calendar ref. 5032 featuring the firm’s in-house 7-Day movement with its signature perpetual calendar module. Although the perpetual calendar module was first seen in the Da Vinci model from 1985, the ref. 5032 was the first to incorporate a 7-Day power reserve as well as a moon phase allowing the wearer to read the indication in its hemisphere.

The present example from circa 2013 in white gold fitted with a blue dial is offered in attractive overall condition with its full set of accessories. A perfect value for buck perpetual calendar timepiece suitable for any important occasions.
